March Meet the Maker 2021 - Part 2

.
Day 8:  W O R K  I N  P R O G R E S S
.
Pleased to say that I have finally found the time to start working on some new things, which I'm hoping to bring out around May time..
.
It's still in the early stages but this collection is very much about letting the materials speak for themselves, and seeing the kinds of shapes and textures that appear organically.
.
The processes involved so far are very playful, and I'm loving getting lost in the creative flow again!
 .
.
Day 9:  L E A R N I N G  C U R V E
.
I think the biggest thing I've had to learn and adapt to over the last year is only being able to sell online..
.
Although I have been selling online for a few years, in normal circumstances I would also be trading at craft fairs, where you have a constant stream of feedback from customers, even if they don't buy from you..
.
This feedback is so important, especially when working on your own, and so asking for it online has definitely been something I've had to learn/am still learning.
.
Another thing that comes with doing markets is that it's a great way of growing your audience, meeting potential new customers, and getting to interact with them and tell them a bit more about your brand.
With a good display, you can even let your stall do most of the shouting, and it immediately gives people a strong idea of your aesthetic.
.
Creating this online is something I find much harder and certainly doesn't come as naturally to me as in person events, so I'm very much looking forward to being able to set up my stall again whenever that may be!
.
What have been your biggest learning curves over the last year?
.
.
DAY 10:  S M A L L  D E T A I L S
 .
Secret messages on the inside of rings are definitely one of my new favourite things..
.
If you're thinking of ordering a ring from me and would like something stamped inside, just send me an email to hello@bluebelllanejewellery.com where, as always, I'll be more than happy to discuss your options.
.
.
Day 11:  P O R T R A I T
As today's prompt is Portrait, I guess I'd better introduce myself..!
.
So.. Hello! I'm Ruth, owner and maker at Bluebell Lane Jewellery, my sustainable jewellery brand that I launched just under 3 years ago.
.
I never dreamt of running my own business, and I never dreamt of being a jewellery either, but I think I was always destined to do something that involved working with my hands.
.
I'd kind of thought I might end up as a potter, or a massage therapist (both things that I'd still love to study at some point) but some how Silver fell in to my hands first, and I've not managed to put it down yet!
.
.
Day 12:  I N  U S E

*This one is actually a video, click here to be taken to instagram to watch it*

Seeing as it's reasonably obvious how to use my jewellery, I thought I would use today's prompt to show you how I use a couple of my favourite hammers to create different textures on some sheet silver.

P.s. Anyone else's favourite part of this video all the bits in the top right corner having a dance?
